Each year, the National Sports Media Association names the top sportscaster in each state, and this year in Mississippi, the honor was awarded to Supertalk Mississippi’s Richard Cross.
Cross, an Oxford native, can be heard on the airwaves from 3-6 p.m. every weekday as the host of SportsTalk Mississippi. After receiving the award, Cross was elated to be mentioned among the top broadcasters in the state’s history.
“I wake up every morning and get to talk about sports for a living,” Cross said. “I’m quite literally living my dream. To win the same award that great Mississippi broadcasters like David Kellum, John Cox, Jim Ellis and the late Jack Cristil have won is incredibly humbling and is an unbelievably special honor.”
In addition to his work with Supertalk, Cross can also be seen working as an analyst for the SEC Network, and he also serves on the broadcast team for Ole Miss Sports Network.
The “Voice of Ole Miss” David Kellum was among many who took to social media to congratulate Cross on the honor.
