The 155th ABCT has been deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Spartan Shield for the past six months. While most Mississippians will be gathered around the fireside with friends and family on Christmas Day, many of the state’s finest are working hard to protect the freedoms and traditions which the Christmas season brings.
The Mississippi National Guard unit has approximately 4,500 Soldiers from Mississippi, Kansas, and California as the decisive effort in Task Force Spartan. The brigade has Soldiers operating in eleven countries in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
Congressman Trent Kelly led a bipartisan delegation to the Middle East Last month calling it an honor as they served Thanksgiving Day lunch to the service men and women stationed at Camp Buehring, Kuwait.
“We let them know that we are proud of their service and understand the sacrifices they and their families have made to protect our nation,” said Kelly. “As we celebrate the holidays, let us all remember those who are watching over us at this hour and their families who are waiting for their safe return.”
