State Representative Robert Foster (R) has entered the 2019 Gubernatorial race. Foster has been in the legislature for three years and owns his family’s Christmas tree farm and agri-tourism operation in North Mississippi.
“I just believe Mississippi could be better,” Foster said. “It’s kept me up at night, praying about how I can make it better, not just for my family, but the 100+ employees who work hard on my farm. However, lately, I’ve thought what if my job meant making life better for all Mississippians.”

While Foster has only been in the legislature for three years, he said he has been able to understand the process during that time and knows how to fix the issues that Mississippi faces.

Attorney General Jim Hood (D) has already announced his bid for Governor, as well as, Velesha Williams (D) who served as the Director of the Metro Jackson Community Prevention Coalition at Jackson State until her retirement in 2016.
In addition to Hood and Williams, Lt. Governor Tate Reeves (R) is also expected to run as Governor Bryant’s term is set to expire.
Prior to taking over the family farm, Foster attended DeSoto County School and later the University of Mississippi. Robert is married to his high school sweetheart, Heather. They live in Hernando and have two children, a daughter and a son.
