The Mississippi Department of Corrections has lifted the statewide lockdown.
Visitation, commissary, and outside recreation have resumed at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman, the East Mississippi Correctional Facility, the South Mississippi Correctional Institution, and the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility.

In a statement, MDOC said that all facilities affected by the lockdown which started back in October are now back to normal operations in the MDOC system. At the time, officials said they were investigating a statewide incident citing lockdown as being necessary for the safety and security of staff and inmates.
“Preventing harm to staff and inmates outweighs the temporary loss of privileges for individual inmates,” MDOC said.
