Denver Broncos backup QB and former Ole Miss Rebel Chad Kelly is back in legal trouble.
Kelly was arrested on a charge of 1st-Degree Criminal Trespassing around 1:00 a.m. in the Englewood, Colorado area this morning.
Police say that they were responding to South Lincoln Street after Kelly was standing outside of a home, and while officers were en route, he made his way inside. Kelly was allegedly chased out of the home by a resident and he ran away.
Police began to search the area after the resident described the man that was in the house. Shortly after, officers found Kelly inside of an SUV, and he was arrested without incident.
The 24-year-old was taken to the Arapahoe County Jail after his arrest.
This is not the first time that Kelly’s off-the-field troubles have landed him in hot water. He was kicked off of the football team at Clemson, and he was involved in a bar fight before he got to Ole Miss.
The Broncos are aware of the latest incident, and made the following statement:
“We are disappointed that Chad Kelly was arrested early this morning,” the Broncos said, according to NFL.com. “Our organization has been in contact with Chad, and we are in the process of gathering more information.”
After an impressive preseason, Kelly won the backup job over Paxton Lynch, and with the Broncos offense struggling at times with Case Keenum under center, some have called for Kelly to start.
Kelly was selected with the final pick in the 2017 NFL Draft after an ACL tear ended his final season with the Rebels.
