UPDATE: Sherwin Johnson, the spokesman for the Jackson Public School District has confirmed that the district intends to appeal the penalty which involves the suspension of the Forest Hill band students from participating in any shows for the remainder of the school year.
Forest Hill High School is facing a penalty from the Mississippi High School Activities Association.
Just days after two Brookhaven Police officers were killed in the line of duty, Forest Hill high school’s band went viral for a halftime show at Brookhaven High School depicting students dressed as doctors and nurses holding SWAT team members at gunpoint.

Todd Kelly with the MHSAA confirmed that they have sent a notice of the penalty to the Jackson Public School District, however, he declined to go into any further details about what the penalty might be.
Multiple reports state that Forest Hill band members will be banned from performing for the rest of the school year.
The public responded with outrage and disdain for the performance. The day after the incident, the Forest Hill High School band was set to compete in a band competition at Copiah Academy, however, they were uninvited.
News Mississippi has reached out to the Jackson Public School District and is waiting for comment.
