Two Mississippi State players have earned weekly SEC honors after the team’s decisive 31-10 win over Kansas State on Saturday.
After leading the way for the Bulldog offense, Sophomore RB Kylin Hill was named the SEC’s offensive player of the week. Hill, a Columbus native, took 17 carries for 215 yards and two TDs while also catching a touchdown in the game.
Hill is just the second player in program history to record at least 200 yards rushing, two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown in a game. Thanks to another dominant performance by the MSU defense, Hill totaled more yards than the entire Wildcat offense.
Speaking of defense, DE Montez Sweat earned his fourth Defensive Lineman of the Week honor of his career for his performance. The entire DL lived in the KSU backfield, and Sweat was able to break through for two tackles for loss and a sack.
Sweat has collected at least one tackle for loss in 10 out of his last 11 games, and he has produced at least 0.5 sacks in five straight games dating back to last season.
After the win, the Bulldogs climbed two spots in the polls as they moved from #18 to #16.
Next week, the Bulldogs take on Louisiana at home before opening SEC play against Kentucky on the road.
