Famous Mississippi chef and restaurant owner Mitch McCamey will compete in this year’s “The Great Slider Showdown” on June 30 in Franklin, Tennessee.
The competition, sponsored by Made South, will include ten prominent chefs from around the south who will all compete for the prize of best slider.
McCamey, originally from Okolona, is the chef and co-owner of Neon Pig and Kermit’s Outlaw Kitchen. Both Neon Pig and Kermit’s Outlaw Kitchen are both in Tupelo and have won numerous awards. Neon Pig, most recently, won the title of best burger in America.
“The Great Slider Showdown” will include ten prominent chefs from around the south, who will all compete for the prize of best slider. Even with some of the top competition present, McCamey stays prepared and confident for the challenge.
“We are very excited about. I don’t really expect any competition, because we really don’t have any competition,” McCamey said. “I’m going to show up with some really good, local ground beef, cook it correctly, and win it.”
The competition, judged by many food connoisseurs including Food Network legend Alton Brown, will be held on Saturday, June 30 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Liberty Hall. Ticket prices are currently being sold on Made South’s website.
