Back in March, a skull was found in someone’s backyard in Lowndes County. A few weeks later, a second human bone believed to be from the lower part of the body was found in the same residents’ yard. At the time, officials said they believed the homeowners’ dog had found the bones and dragged them into the yard. Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant examined the bones, took DNA from them and sent it to the lab for testing.
Merchant received the test results from the DNA test on the skull and was able to identify it as belonging to Selvain McQueen II who was 31-years-old and reported missing by his family back in 2016. He was the son of former Columbus Police Chief Selvain McQueen.
Merchant said they have not identified the second human bone as belonging to McQueen and added that they are continuing the search for the rest of the remains.
