The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation confirmed that Tishomingo Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic call in Burnsville.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they were confronted by a man armed with a long gun. Warren Strain, spokesman for the MBI said that deputies gave numerous verbal commands for the subject to drop the weapon.
When the suspect refused the commands and pointed the gun in their direction, deputies discharged their weapons wounding the suspect.
“The subject was wounded and taken to a local hospital then later airlifted to Memphis for treatment,” said Strain. “The deputies responded at approximately 6:30 p.m. on April 4th.
The MBI and MBI’s Crime Scene Unit responded and the investigation is ongoing.
