GULFPORT, Miss. –Gene Taylor is eyeing his old 4th District congressional seat again.
He held the seat for 20 years, but lost it in 2010 to Republican Congressman Steven Palazzo. While there’s the potential for a familiar rematch, how the campaign could play out has undeniable political intrigue- Taylor doesn’t plan to make his run again as a Democrat.
He said his best chance of winning and getting a good committee appointment would be to challenge and defeat Palazzo in the GOP. Taylor is also floating a strategy of attempting a return to the U.S. Congress as an independent.
