JACKSON, Miss. – It was a unanimous decision by the Mississippi Public Service Commission Tuesday that would require Mississippi Power to provide more information about what they are spending money on and why. It could potentially save you some money on your power bill rates. So far the company has racked up at whopping $4.75 billion on their Kemper County Coal Plant.
“We are trying to get any additional information that we can to make sure we are making the right decision on these prudency matters,” said Public Service Commissioner Lynn Posey. “If they aren’t really prudent then they wouldn’t be allowed to go into the cost.”
Posey says since new information has to be provided there will be some delays for Mississippi Power’s prudency hearings. They may be pushed back to May 2014.
