Get Ready for Rain and Cooler Temps, Drier Air

JACKSON, Miss.–There could be locally heavy rain as a cold front pushes its way through Mississippi Tuesday night and into Wednesday. Behind that, temps could be about ten degrees cooler, with less humidity.

“As the front moves across the area, we’re looking at the potential for some locally heavy rainfall, especially in the northwest part of the state,” said National Weather Service Meteorologist Eric Carpenter.

After that, the cooler air comes in, but it likely won’t be the kind of front that makes a huge temperature change. Central could see temps about five to ten degrees cooler, while south will stay in the upper 70s through Thursday.

The biggest difference will be north Mississippi, where there’s a potential for seeing highs in the mid to upper 60s for Thursday.

The big story is drier air.

Another front due in Sunday is set to reinforce cooler temps.
