The MAEP bill has moved out of the house and into the Senate, so what’s next?
Senator Gray Tollison, head of the Senate Education committee said that the deadline for the Senate to consider the bill is February 27th and he said that they would be using all of that time to do their homework and hopefully work out some of the current issues with the bill.
Tollison said that one part of the bill deals with meal costs for children, saying that it is complex and would currently affect the wealthier districts in the state by making them pay more.
“What people don’t realize is that MAEP is a combination of state and local money,” said Tollison.
He added that there are issues with more money being given to one school over another.
