As colder temperatures will continue to drop this weekend well below freezing, Greg Flynn with MEMA urges everyone to remember the four P’s that accompany cold weather; pets, plants, pipes and people.
“With the weather turning cold, just remember the four P’s, pets, plants, pipes and people,” Flynn said. “Certainly if there are older folks that you know of, or people you know that can’t afford to run their heat, you know, make sure that you check on them. Protect any of those plants that may be outside that you want to keep.”
Temperatures will be down in the teens on New Years Eve and New Years Day. Flynn added to make sure to leave the faucet’s dripping at night as the pipes will likely freeze if not taken care of properly and also make sure that the pets are kept warm.
“Let your pets inside,” Flynn said. “Now is a good time to let your dogs, your cats inside or think about them being outside and have a place for them to go.”
