The City of Jackson has reported it’s 54 homicide of the year.

Officers responded to Lake Trace Circle back in august after a shooting. When they arrived they found a silver SUV fleeing the residence at a high speed. The vehicle was driven by Megan Durr and the front seat passanger was identified as 38-year-old Marcus Lockett.

It was later learned that Lockett had sustained at least one
gunshot wound to the upper torso while allegedly involved in a physical altercation with his girlfriend, Ms. Durr at the residence.

When officers arrived Durr was trying to take him to the hospital when she lost control of the vehicle on Ridgewood Road near Fontaine Dr. and hit a tree. Both people were thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.

Ms. Durr died as a result of blunt force trauma, and Mr. Lockett suffered blunt force trauma injuries in addition to the gunshot wound.

As officers investigated they found that Mr. Durr’s son, 15 at the time, allegedly shot Mr. Lockett during a physical domestic fight. He was later questioned and released pending a Hinds County Grand Jury decision.

A recently released autopsy report and medical examiner’s ruling, ruled Mr. Lockett’s death a homicide from a gunshot to the arm.

An arrest at this point is not expected and the findings of
this investigation will be presented to the Hinds County Grand Jury.
