JACKSON, Miss.–Rain is on the way, or so says the forecast. With the rain could be some thunderstorms that could produce locally heavy rainfall, maybe one to three inches and even more for south Mississippi, as the front that’s bringing the rain is expected to stall out over the weekend.
And Mississippi needs the rain.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Lynn Burse says the entire region is having a dry time of it.
“We’ve had a high pressure ridge that refused to budge from late August until now,” she said. “We’re below normal for the month.”
She said Mississippi is at least one and a half inches below the “normal” mark.
The front was expected to bring rain and storms starting late morning Friday and to keep it in the state until early Sunday.
