JACKSON, Miss.–Yes, it’s true what you’ve been hearing about rain. Rumors that it might be back are more than just rumors, and it could be as soon as Friday. The Magnolia State has been cooking in a lot of places, without any precip for several weeks and farmers have been telling News Mississippi that a good, solid rain wouldn’t do their crops any harm.
Well, Friday there’s anywhere from a 40 to 60 percent chance of rain, with storms and that could last into Sunday morning. Temps will cool off a good bit, too, possibly into the low 80s by Saturday.
Meanwhile, there’s still a high fire danger at least until the rain comes, and burn bans are in effect for several Mississippi counties. That includes Amite, Carroll, Holmes, Hinds, Lee Panola, Tallahatchie and Tate.
The high fire danger includes the Delta and north central counties, down to I-20, but somewhat south of there, too.
