Yesterday, over 300 law enforcement officers and civil servants from across the state gathered to honor the lives that were lost 16 years ago during the attacks on the United States of America on 9/11.

Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Tuggle with the Mississippi Highway Patrol helped to put the event together and he said it was the only one like it in the nation.

“We want to send a signal to the rest of the country that you can attack us in several different categories, but one thing you can’t attack us on is our patriotism,” said Tuggle.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann also took part in the run and said that it was an honor to run alongside some of Mississippi’s bravest law enforcement officers.

The run took place at 9:45 on Monday morning on the East side of the Capitol where participants took part in the one-mile unity run where they ran in formation.
