JACKSON, Miss.–Fighting years of waning attendance is one problem the Jackson Zoo faces, but another is keeping its accreditation with the national Assoc. of Zoos and Aquariums. The zoo is the only one in the state with that accreditation.
To maintain it, the zoo has to show that it has low debt, decent attendance, takes proper care of the animals on exhibit and has the support of the community.
Beth Poff, the Zoo’s executive director is getting ready for the accreditation process, which is set to be complete by Sept. 13.
If you’d like to show your support, you can e-mail your letter in at bpoff@jacksonzoo.org.
