Saturday, five-year-old Jayden Pempleton retrieved a gun that was in his house and accidentally shot himself in the face.
Pempleton was then rushed to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Jackson police say that they will not look to press charges.
“As of right now we have ruled it as an accidental shooting,” said Cmdr. Tyree Jones of the Jackson Police Department. “We don’t look to charge anyone at this time. It is a tragic and unfortunate situation that happened.”
