The Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service, the Governor-appointed state service commission, announced today that Mississippi has received $3.12 million in AmeriCorps funding from the Corporation for National and Community
Its comprised of 11 AmeriCorps grants that will go to Mississippi nonprofits, Institutions of Higher Learning, and state and local agencies.
“Volunteer Mississippi is honored to support the continuation of National Service in Mississippi,” said Monica Ritchie, Interim Executive Director of the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer service, also known as Volunteer Mississippi. “It is essential to our great state to continue serving in areas of education, economic opportunity, workforce development, healthy futures, and environmental restoration.”
Since 1994, more than 14,500 Mississippi residents have serviced as national service members. In total that is close to 29 million hours of service.

Climb CDC, Delta State University/Delta Reads, FoodCorps Mississippi, Grenada School District, City of Laurel, SR1(Scientific Research) -COOL Project, The University of Mississippi//Mississippi College Corps., The University of Southern Mississippi//Campus Link AmeriCorps, The University of Southern Mississippi//Triad Service AmeriCorps.
