A coordinated search continued Sunday as teams from the Leake County Sheriffs, Scott County Sheriffs, Rankin County Sheriffs and the MDWFP scoured the Pearl River for a 12-year-old Morton girl who went missing from the Low Head Dam Saturday.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, the 12-year-old was pulled underwater Saturday night. At least two other children were swept by the current and were saved by family members.
The child’s parents were not present, but other family members were.
Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee added that heavy currents in the Pearl River are forcing authorities to broaden the search area for the girl.
