“There are a lot of national public safety campaigns, but this one is ours.”
Mississippi Highway Patrol Capt. Johnny Poulos smiles as he says this.
“I can’t go into much about it, because we’re finalizing it now, but just know: it’s something unique. We anticipate this to go nationwide.”
Mississippi’s road fatality numbers are already higher now than this time last year. Last year, Mississippi ranked #2 in the nation in teenage driving fatalities alone.
“We talk a lot about ‘citations,’ but we’re taking a new direction now. It’s not about citations, it’s about our main goal. And that is saving lives,” said Poulos.
Expect this new campaign to be unveiled closer to the July 4th holiday weekend.
