Your Memorial Day Weekend is off to a hot start Saturday with triple digit heat indices possible for the areas along the Mississippi River.
Throughout Saturday, the skies will give way to partly cloudy, with highs in the upper 80s and reaching the 90s in some areas.
National Weather Service officials are suggesting that you keep the water close by and stay cool to avoid overheating.
Sunday, storms are possible, mostly for North Central and North Mississippi. Greenwood and Greenville and up through the Delta is under a slight risk for severe weather, while Columbus and southwest through Natchez are under a marginal risk. Heavy rain, high winds, hail and local flooding are the main concerns with this storm system.
The storm threat continues Monday, with severe storms capable of damaging winds, quarter sized hail and localized flooding will possible into Monday evening especially over east central Mississippi. These risks are labeled as slight and marginal for now, but News Mississippi will continue to monitor these conditions for you.
