In a hearing on Wednesday, former Mississippi Department of Corrections Commissioner Christopher Epps was sentenced.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office confirmed that Judge Henry T. Wingate sentenced Epps to serve 235 months (almost 20 years) in prison.
Epps pleaded guilty in 2015 for money laundering and filing false tax reports. He admitted to taking bribes totaling nearly $1.5 million.
