Three teens accused of killing 6-year-old Kingston Frazier appeared before Judge Bruce McKinley in Madison County today.
In a crowded courtroom at the Madison County Justice Court, family and friends of Kingston, waited anxiously during the first preliminary hearing into his murder. Judge McKinley announced that all three teens charged with the capital murder of Kingston will be held without bond until their next hearing on June 26 at 9:00 a.m.
Byron McBride, 19, D’Allen Washington, 17, and Dwan Wakefield, 17, answered the judge’s questions through a video conference from the jail to the courtroom. Wakefield and McBride were both represented by Attorney Greg Webber, however Wakefield said his father was making arrangements for him to have other legal counsel.
Washington was represented by Attorney Warren Martin from Jackson.
For Wakefield and Washington the capital murder charge carries with it a possible life sentence, since they are still considered minors. For McBride, he could face the death penalty. District Attorney for Madison Michael Guest would not confirm if the DA’s office would seek the death penalty for McBride.
As onlookers exited the courtroom Kingston’s Great-Uncle, Amos Archie, spoke to the emotion the family is feeling after such a terrible tragedy.
“It’s not good for either family(s). It’s a bad situation, I pray for them. I’m praying for our family the community the state and the city. It’s just something you don’t normally see happen,” said Archie. “She’s [Ebony Archie] struggling. She lost her son, it’s painful for her mother, her father and her boyfriend and his parents as well. It’s a sad situation.”
Archie said he believes justice will be done as the case moves forward. He said the family was pleased with the decision for no bond the judge made Monday, but would not comment on whether the family was open to the death penalty for McBride.
The father of Byron McBride, Byron McBride, Senior was also there and proclaims his son’s innocence. He said he is worried about the fight his son will be able to make in a court of law after rumors have spread that he was the alleged shooter.
“I want some answers, will you please give me some answers. My boy did not kill that baby, but y’all gonna’ kill my son,” said McBride, Sr.
The District Attorney’s office has not released who was the shooter nor any other roles played in the crime.

Kingston disappeared on Thursday, May 18 around 1:30 in the morning when his mother’s car was stolen from the Kroger parking lot on I-55 in Jackson. The car and Kingston’s body were later recovered in Madison County.
Kingston had been shot in the head.
Guest said while Madison County will try the young men for murder, other charges could be filed in Hinds County for the auto theft and kidnapping.
All suspects are being held in the Madison County Jail.
