AMR officials are offering hands-only CPR classes in the Metro area the week of May 22, 2017.
In the event of a heart attack, overdose, drowning, electrocution, suffocation, or any other horror that stops a persons heart you could be their life savor before a first responder arrives.
“The idea behind the whole thing is to give everybody that can stop by, sort of a crash course in CPR and learn the very basics that would allow them to make a difference in someones life whose heart can stop,” said Ryan Wilson clinical services manager.
The technique will be taught at the following:
- Tuesday, May 23 – Hwy. 18 Walmart (on 2711 Greenway Drive)
- Tuesday, May 23 – Clinton Walmart (950 Hwy. 80 East)
- Wednesday, May 24 – State Department of Health, 570 Woodrow Wilson
- Thursday, May 25 – Kroger at 4810 I-55 North.
The hands-only CPR consists of pushing hard and fast on the center of the patient’s chest at the right rate and depth. The rescuer does not breathe into the patient’s mouth.
“Anybody can do it, you don’t have to be a medical professional or be overly knowledgeable. We are going to break it down to it’s simplest form,” said Wilson.
