JACKSON, Miss. — South Mississippi no longer has a Public Service Commissioner, for now. Leonard Bentz turned his resignation Monday, but since has gotten another job offer to become the new executive director of Southern Mississippi’s Planning and Development District.
Some controversy has stirred over Bentz’s qualifications for his new position since he does not have a college degree or not as much economic development experience others who were competing for the job.
Governor Bryant now has to find a new replacement commissioner.
