Speaker of the House Philip Gunn has said he will form a committee to study the impact a lottery would have on the state.
Meg Annison confirmed to News Mississippi that Gunn will look into the pros and cons of establishing a lottery.
Gunn has always stood against the lottery, most recently telling Paul Gallo that if he “had thirty minutes,” he “could explain why.”
A last minute strike-all on a bill by Mark Baker early in the session pushed a lottery bill through hours before deadline. That bill died on the floor.
The governor has also continued to push for the establishment of a lottery in Mississippi.
