BILOXI, Miss.–Hurricane forecasters have a new tropical storm to keep an eye on. Erin has formed in the Atlantic and its path could take it into the Gulf on Mexico, where Mississippi’s coast could be affected.
The storm is now southwest of the Cape Verde Islands, with winds of 40 mph.
A tropical storm warning is in effect for the southern Cape Verde Islands of Maio, Santiago, Fogo and Brava.
Meanwhile, a disturbance over the Yucatan could become a tropical system and move into the Gulf soon.
News Mississippi will track any system that could affect the Magnolia State.
