The House and Senate voted to pass House Bill 1322 and Gov. Phil Bryant has slapped his signature on it. That means on July 1, 2017 all Mississippi micro-breweries will be able to sell their product on-site.
What better way to celebrate than to throw a party? Breweries all across the state will be celebrating on the 1st in honor of the much anticipated piece of legislation.
In Jackson Lucky Town Brewing Company will have a soft opening bottle release from Midnight till 2 a.m. on July 1st. They are booking live music such as Scott Albert Johnson, The Jason Daniel’s Band, and SILAS. Lucky Town will be selling exclusive retail, like t-shirts, to commemorate the occasion. The day of, they’ll keep the party going from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with more live music, food trucks, and that limited supply of special edition t-shirts.
There is no cover, all you have to do is buy the beer. Tours will still be available and as always it is a dog friendly establishment.
Down in south Mississippi Lazy Magnolia Brewing Co. is having a grand opening of their own.
“On July 1st we are having our grand opening for our tap room, it will be from 11-8 p.m., live music all day with food,” said Anna Claire Jiles with the brewery.
They’re offering three passes for guests. There is a VIP Pass for $60, that’s all you can eat and drink with a t-shirt, growler, and pint glass. They also have a “Lazy Patrons Pass” or you can just by beer at the door for $5.
“We are ecstatic. It will definitely be changing the whole craft beer scenery for Mississippi and we have been waiting on this for a long time so we are ready to celebrate,” said Jiles.
Lisa Miller owner of Natchez Brewing said they haven’t finalized any plans yet but they will definitely be throwing a part to celebrate the news.
“Didn’t believe it until it was finally signed, and when that happened I was very very excited,” said Miller. “It’s going to be huge, we are a big tourist town here in Natchez.”

We’re under construction right now, and have added focus on the taproom design to accommodate the additional traffic we think we’ll see based on this. Even though on-site sales will be a small part of what we produce, it’s all upside for us.”
They will be hosting a “Growler Grab” event for July 1. They plan to have live music, beer on tap to take home in growlers, and the first of our packaged product (cans) available by then.
HB1322 allows for these microbreweries to sell about the equivalent of about two cases of beer per person, per day. Previously, breweries were not allowed to sell any product onsite.
