‘Pup Patrol’ gears up for Worlds competition

TeleSouth Communications inc.

A group of Brandon Elementary students who participate in ‘Venture’ style programs, more hands-on projects, will have a shot at the First Lego League Worlds Competition in Houston, Texas.

The team started out as rookies in the Animal Allies challenge. They selected the name ‘Pup Patrol’ as a team because they wanted to be advocates for dogs trapped in animal shelters.

They found a chance to reduce the number of shelter dogs by helping the community spay and neuter their pets. The ‘Pup Patrol’ also designed, built, and programmed a robot capable of meeting the Animal Allies challenge . They called this robot, ‘Murphy.’

The team took their project to the district qualifier and won a trip to the state competition that took place on Feb. 4, 2017.

Since the state competition in Vicksburg at the Convention Center, where they won over all champions, they have begun preparing for FLL Worlds in Houston, Texas. They’ll head there on April 19-22.

You can help the team out as the team fine tunes their project by becoming a sponsor. If they are able to go to FLL Worlds, the team will represent Mississippi public school at a new level of competition.
