It’s a name synonymous with fun (and a subtle undercurrent of rebellion).
Not Theodore Geisel (real name), but his mischievous alias, Dr. Seuss.
Geisel was 33 years old when he published his first book under the Seuss pen name, ‘And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street’. Mulberry Street launched a string of beloved children’s titles that have been adapted for TV and movies and are constantly being re-adapted to bring the stories to life for new generations.
Film incarnations of Seuss classics include a 2003 version of ‘The Cat in the Hat’ with Mike Myers in the title role. An animated film of ‘The Lorax’ released in 2012 boasts a star-studded cast of voices, including Taylor Swift, Betty White, Zac Efron and Danny DeVito as the passionate, tree-loving Lorax.
And you are invited to mix it up with all of your favorite characters at the Mississippi Children’s Museum today from 10A-4P.

Get your picture taken with Thing One & Thing Two or the infamous Cat.
Dine on green eggs ‘n’ ham prepared by chef Tom Ramsey of La Finestra.
They’ll also show you how to make puppets and a distinctive striped chapeau like the one worn by that Cat.
And the stories. You can read and act out the stories, role-playing the characters and enjoying a fun day with fellow fans of the whimsical world created by the good doctor.
