HINDS COUNTY, Miss.–If a company out of Florida gets its way in the Magnolia state it is very possible the high-flying technology could be built here.
The owner of Alpha-Data Corporation spoke to the Hinds County Board of Supervisors at this week’s meeting insisting the corridor between Byram and Clinton be built. The completion has been stalled in years past.
Vercell Vance, the owner, purchased 1,000 acres back in 2005 near where the corridor would be built, and planned to expand his corporation to the area.
Vance even sold half of his property to Hinds County so they could finished the 18-mile stretch of highway but no such construction has happened, with supervisors saying they don’t have the money to do it even though some of it would be federal funds.
Until the corridor is completed Vance says he won’t expand into the county, and possibly bring new jobs, because he says the completion of the roadway is very important to the economic development for the county.
