JACKSON, Miss. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi Insurance is still good at University of Mississippi Medical Center. A contract between the two medial entities was supposed to expire by the end of August, but they have finally come to terms on rates the insurer will be required to pay.
“Some of the statistics that we had showed we were reimbursed among the lowest percentile of academic medical centers across the country,” said UMMC spokesperson Jack Mazurak.
Mazurak says the hospital is getting paid more now thanks to the new contract. He says it is “definitely a move in the right direction.”
Blue Cross patients will still have the same in-house rates they had before under the new contract.
