JACKSON, Miss.–Five states will receive over $6 million from multiple agencies to improve the health of their delta workforce.
Mississippi will receive two grants totaling just over $1 million dollars to create programs that work with local business and industry to incentivize healthy living through behavior change.
“A healthy Delta workforce is vitally important to the strength of the Delta Region,” said Delta Regional Authority Federal Co-Chairman Christopher Masingill. “That contributes to a stronger economy and a stronger America.”
These programs, designed to influence healthy living in the workplace, combine innovative solutions and partnerships between multiple organizations.
“This announcement that addresses chronic health diseases is exactly what Delta families need and continues the White House’s commitment to growing and investing in the nation’s rural communities.”
The funding is part of a collaboration between the Delta Regional Authority and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
From the HRSA, Delta State University will receive almost $525,000 and Jefferson Comprehensive Health Center in Fayette, Miss. will receive exactly $500,000 for programs.
