JACKSON, Miss.- A body was found at the intersection of University Boulevard and Lynch Street in Jackson around 6 a.m. on Friday morning.
However another crime scene was located on Minerva and Olin streets. Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance said they believe this site is connected to the shooting. Officers found shell casings and other evidence to lead them to this conclusion.
Cmdr. Tyree Jones said the victim has been identified.
This morning’s homicide victim has been identified as Marquez Schaffer-22, single GSW to the leg. This is the city’s 2nd homicide for 2017.

Jones told News Mississippi that it is an ongoing investigation and they will update as more details become available.
This is the city’s second homicide of 2017.
