PEARL, Miss.- The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is getting ready for Santa to come to town even if rain, snow, sleet or even hail is in the forecast.
Executive Director Lee Smithson said they want to make sure everyone knows they’re going to be doing their best to make sure Santa Claus and his reindeer have smooth sailing in the Magnolia state.
“We’re talking to Santa before he leaves the North Pole, to make sure he’s got a good flight plan and knows what the weather is like before he gets to Mississippi,” said Smithson.
They’ll be monitoring his travel through Mississippi and are prepared to offer help if need be.
“We will be making sure that if anything happens to Rudolph’s nose we can get in and get that bulb replaced so that Santa can see the way,” said Smithson.
A few tips MEMA officials want to remind kids of for Christmas Eve:
- You MUST go to bed early
- Make sure rooftops are completely clear for Santa and the reindeer to land
- A glass of low-fat milk and a plate of cookies should be placed near the Christmas tree for Santa to snack on as he delivers gifts.
