VERBANIA, Italy – The oldest living person on the planet celebrated her 117th birthday Tuesday.
Emma Morano was joined by her two elderly nieces, a pair of caregivers and her long-tine physician. The celebration took place at Morano’s one bedroom apartment.
Along with her friends, Morano received a greeting from Italy’s president wishing her “serenity and good health.”
Morano is believed to be the only person alive to have been born in the 1800s.
The oldest person in Mississippi is 107 year-old George Benson of Flowood.
