JACKSON, Miss. – The Friend of Farm Bureau award has been given to Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS) for his work in the 114th Congress. This will be Senator Cochran’s 11th time to receive the award after his commitment to the farmers of Mississippi.
“Agriculture is essential to Mississippi’s economy and way of life, and it is important that federal policies work to help, not hinder, all aspects of the agricultural sector,” Cochran said. “I appreciate this honor and the Mississippi Farm Bureau’s advocacy on behalf of farmers, ranchers and agribusiness.”
Cochran is part of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee. He also serves on the Rules and Administration Committee and is Chairman of the Appropriations Committee.
“Senator Cochran has always been a friend to the Mississippi farmer and has championed farmers’ concerns in Washington.” said Mississippi Farm Bureau President Mike McCormick. “The senator and his staff understand the challenges that Mississippi farmers face, and their continued support of agriculture is certainly appreciated.”
In 1990 Senator Cochran was honored with Farm Bureau’s highest award, the Distinguished Service Award.
