HATTIESBURG, Miss.–Southern Miss defeated Savannah State in Hattiesburg Saturday night 56-0, marking the first shut-out since 2009.
Nick Mullens threw three touchdowns and the Southern Miss defense allowed the fewest total yards in Conference USA history.
The Golden Eagles sealed the end of the second quarter with an 11-yard touchdown run to make it 49-0 at halftime.
Savannah State had just 41 total yards and three first downs.
Since trailing 35-10 against Kentucky last Saturday, Southern Miss (2-0) has outscored its opponents 90-0.
Next week, Southern Miss will host the Troy Trojans.
