JACKSON, MISS– I-12 eastbound heading towards the Mississippi state line from Juban Road has been reopened, according to Louisiana state police.
The road has been cleared for travel, and those who had been stranded during the flooding have been recovered.
“People that had to leave their vehicles have been brought back and were able to retrieve their vehicles,” Louisiana state trooper told the Louisiana Radio Network. “All inoperable vehicles are being towed to the side of the road.”
The Mississippi Department of Transportation announced road closings over the weekend due to flooding in Pike and Amite counties. In Amite county, the westbound lane of Hwy 24 just east of Hwy 48 is closed, but the eastbound lane is open for travel. The northbound lane of Hwy 569 from Berwich Castle Road to the Louisiana State Line is closed, but the southbound lane is open.
In Pike county, Hwy 575 between SR 48 and Osyka Progress Road is closed until further notice, and officials predicted it could be months before it is reopened.
