JACKSON, Miss. – The new chairmen of the Mississippi Democratic Party is having to tip-toe around the issue of the state flag.
Early Thursday, Chairmen Bobby Moak refused to answer directly whether or not the Mississippi should change the state flag.
“I think one thing that we can’t do is throw red meat issues out there,” said Moak. “…The speaker is in control of the super majority, he has stated that that needs to occur and we haven’t seen that happen, so let’s live in today’s reality.”
Along with discussing the state flag, Moak talked about the struggles the Mississippi Democratic Party will face moving forward.
“We’re the minority party in the state, we have to do some rebuilding. The bones are there. It’s there to make it happen and the first thing we have to do, like are republican friends, is have some fundraising,” he said.
Moak did not shy away from sharing his views on the presidential election. He said that voters should get “logical and reasonable” this November and vote for Hillary Clinton over her republican counterpart Donald Trump.
