JACKSON, Miss.- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has monitored Mississippi’s beaches and has lifted a water contact advisory for one beach on Wednesday.
The water advisory for Station 7, or the Pass Christian East Beach, near Espy Ave. to Hayden Ave. has been lifted. Water samples at the station have shown that bacteria levels in this area have gone down and become acceptable.
However according to a statement by the MDEQ the following areas are still under advisories:
►Station 1– Lakeshore Beach– from Silver Slipper Casino eastward to Poinset.
►Station 5 – Pass Christian West Beach — from Fort Henry Ave to Elliot St.
►Station 6 – Pass Christian Central Beach – from Henderson Ave to Heirn Ave.
►Station 15 – Shearwater Beach – from Weeks Bayou eastward to Ashley.
►Station 19 – Pascagoula Beach West – from Oliver eastward to Westwood.
Advisories are only lifted when water levels become safe for humans to enter again.
