JACKSON COUNTY, Miss.- A man has been brought back to Jackson County and charged with the murder of his own mother after a car crash.
Marshall Austin Smith, 25, has been jailed in Rankin County for several months serving time for violation probation in a burglary case. However, he was transported to the Jackson County Jail on Friday to face charges for his mothers murder.
Smith was arrested on the murder charge in August after running from D’Iberville police and crashing into a tree. His mother, 45-year-old Millicent Sue Smith, was in the car and was killed in the incident.
The chase began after officers responded to a fight at a restaurant.
At the time, Smith was on probation for burglary charges.
