Walmart is set to strengthen its commitment to Mississippi in 2025 by remodeling 16 stores across the state, enhancing associate benefits, and supporting local communities. These investments aim to improve customer experiences, create career opportunities, and foster development, according to a release from the retail giant.
As part of Walmart’s national plan to remodel its 650 stores this year, Walmart will refresh 16 Mississippi locations. Some updates will include:

- Modern store designs with bold signage as well as vibrant displays
- Expanded product offerings
- Improved pickup and delivery services
- Enhanced pharmacy features like wider aisles and private consultation areas
Cities in line to get updated Walmarts are West Point, Meridian, Pearl, Grenada, Booneville, Canton, Vicksburg, Forest, Louisville, Batesville, Kosciusko, Richland, Carthage, Biloxi (Keesler), Hazlehurst, and Picayune.
While Walmart employs 25,000 people in Mississippi and offers competitive benefits and career development, some of the company’s merits include the following:
- Over 13,600 associates received bonuses in March.
- 1,429 promotions and 2,574 part-time to full-time transitions just last year
- 75% of frontline managers began as hourly associates
- Some benefits included paid education, medical plans, therapy sessions, 401(k), stock purchase options, and Walmart+ memberships.
Walmart is also planning to work off its community investment in Mississippi, which has included $9.3 million in community donations, $1.9 billion spent on Mississippi suppliers, and 10 million pounds of food donated to local food banks.
The release went on to say that Walmart’s continued investment in Mississippi reflects its long-standing commitment to being more than a retail company. Through store improvements, associate support, and meaningful contributions to local causes, Walmart is helping build a brighter future for Mississippi – one community at a time.
