The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is continuing to assess damage. Property damage has so far been reported in 14 counties: Alcorn, DeSoto, Forrest, Hinds, Jasper, Kemper, Lafayette, Pontotoc, Quitman, Smith, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tunica, and Union.
Those who have not reported damage to MEMA are encouraged to do so by using the agency’s online portal. Residents should also file an insurance claim and take photos of any property damage.
14,000 homes and businesses remained without power as of Sunday morning. The identities of the person killed and the person injured have not been released at this time.
