As forecasts project that inclement weather will bludgeon Mississippi this weekend, a race benefitting the state’s lone children’s hospital has been rescheduled.
Originally scheduled to happen on Saturday, the third annual St. Paddy’s race, “Run the Rainbow,” will be taking place in Jackson on Sunday as organizers look to ensure the safety of all runners. According to the National Weather Service’s Saturday forecast, the state’s capital city is at a moderate risk of experiencing:
- Tornadoes
- Damaging winds up to 70 miles per hour
- Large hail up to golf ball size
Sunday’s race will feature a 5K route beginning and ending at Hal & Mal’s in downtown Jackson. 10K, half marathon, and full marathon routes through downtown Jackson, Belhaven, Eastover, and the University of Mississippi Medical Center campus will also be offered.
Proceeds from the event will go to Children’s of Mississippi. Additional details and potential updates can be found here.
