Colin Stough, a Mississippi native who finished third on American Idol, is facing DUI charges after a car wreck in Tennessee.
Per a report from TMZ, the “Sober” singer was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Friday outside of Nashville. Highway patrol responded to the scene near mile marker 37 on I-840 in Williamson County, where they took Stough into custody and transported him to a local hospital.
Information regarding Stough’s injuries was not disclosed, but the report added that the country singer was medically cleared and booked into jail on charges of DUI, underage consumption of alcohol, and failure to exercise due care. Stough, 20, has since bailed out.
During his time on American Idol, Stough wowed fans and judges alike with performances such as Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” and The Steeldrivers’ “Midnight Train to Memphis.” The Gattman native’s rockabilly style and gravelly vocals propelled him to place third on season 21, behind Iam Tongi and Megan Danielle. That same year, fellow Mississippi native Zachariah Smith joined Stough in the competition’s top five.
Since Idol, Stough has toured across the U.S., making multiple stops in his home state. In December, he made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and has seen multiple songs, including “Bad Day” and “Til’ The Day One Does,” surpass the million-stream mark.
